Maarten Kuijper is the Biodiversity Subject Matter Expert in bp. He is responsible for operationalising bp’s biodiversity position across bp’s portfolio. He provides expert advice, training, support and guidance to the line on all biodiversity matters, with a focus on the early identification and management of biodiversity risks. He has nearly 10 years of experience with bp, having previously worked as Environment Manager and Lead Advisor Environmental Impact Assessment. Before joining BP in 2012, Maarten held the position of Technical Director with an environmental consultancy in the UK, preceded by careers with an independent institute for applied water research in the Netherlands and the United Nations. Maarten holds MSc degrees in Biology from the State University of Groningen, the Netherlands and Tropical Coastal Management from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK.
